Here’s everything you need to know about booking accommodation in the French coastal town of Honfleur.

Located on the north coast of France, Honfleur is one of Normandy’s most beautiful seaside towns.

Here, colourful buildings line the tranquil Old Harbour, and the surrounding streets bustle with quaint shops and restaurants. It’s a wonderful place to visit, with a great atmosphere and plenty to see and do.

Honfleur has a long history of welcoming visitors, having originally been established as a trade port in the 9th century. The town has an advantageous location, sitting right at the tail end of the river Seine, and just a short journey across the sea from England.

Today this makes Honfleur easy to access, both from England and further beyond. The nearest ferry crossing can be accessed from Le Harve, with several services running to and from Portsmouth each day.

Alternatively, Honfleur is sometimes visited directly by cruise lines such as Ambassador, which is scheduled to stop there several times over the next few years. You can find out more about their itineraries on the Ambassador Cruise Line website.

Overview of Honfleur

I know it can sometimes be difficult to visualise a place you’ve never been to. Use this map to explore the accommodation options in different parts of Honfleur!

Budget Hotels

For those who are looking for a low cost getaway, there are plenty of great options to choose from in Honfleur.

This incudes two Ibis hotels that are located right in the centre of town. The two star Ibis Budget Honfleur Centre is just 400 meters away from the Old Harbour, placing it right in the centre of the action. The rooms are all air conditioned, with flat screen TVs, free wifi and luggage storage. Breakfast is also available for an additional fee.

Alternatively, the three star Ibis Honfleur is around 950 metres from the centre of town. A bar with food options is available 24 hours a day, and a buffet breakfast is available for an extra charge.

Another well reviewed budget option is the Hôtel Restaurant Ferme de la Grande Cour. Rated two stars, the hotel is a short walk away from the harbour, and offers additional amenities including a sun terrace, garden with play area, and traditional French restaurant.

Right next to the Old Harbour, the three star Entre Terre Et Mer is a historic option based out of two fishermen’s houses. Similarly, the three star Hotel Le Dauphin is based across three traditional wooden houses. It has free parking, a fitness room and sauna available for guest use.

Mid-range hotels

With many properties to choose from, here is my selection of the best mid-range hotels in Honfleur. These generally have enhanced facilities without the price tag of the luxury options.

The inexpensive Best Western Eden SPA is located a short distance from the town centre and offers rooms with balconies, terraces and kitchenettes. A variety of breakfast options are available and a full spa and wellness centre is onsite.

For a mid-range option that’s close to the Old Harbour, check out the L'Absinthe Hôtel, which is based in a stylish 16th century building. Spa baths are included in each room, and there’s even a suite with its own sauna!

La Maison De Lucie is a lovely 18th century hotel located on the outskirts of Honfleur’s old town with fantastic access to the local shops and restaurants. Rated three stars, the hotel facilities include a pretty courtyard as well as a hot tub, which is available to use for an additional charge.

The Radisson owned Les Maisons de Léa & Spa is a reasonably priced four star option. The property is located opposite the Sainte Catherine Church and is equipped with a restaurant, bar, spa facilities, and outdoor terrace.

Les Pommiers is located slightly further out of Honfleur in a beautiful old house. The old town is a 16 minute walk away and breakfast is included in the price of your stay.

Luxury hotels

Honfleur has a number of stunning luxury hotels for visitors who are looking for a more high-end experience.

The five star Hôtel Saint-Delis is an elegant hotel located in a mansion that was previously occupied by painter Henri de Saint-Delis. The property is stylishly decorated while staying true to its historic roots. Many of the rooms even have wellness facilities such as steam showers and whirlpool bathtubs, which add an extra layer of luxury to your stay.

Alternatively, take a look at the four star L'INVITATION AU VOYAGE, a modern option with fantastic amenities that’s also based in the centre of town. The lounge bar and wellness centre offer space for residents to unwind, with a house cocktail list and a live pianist on selected the evenings.

If you’re keen to venture further out of town, then take a look at the gorgeous La Ferme Saint Simeon Spa. This five star hotel has two onsite restaurants, a floral garden, terrace and lounge. The well equipped spa area is accessible upon reservation, and offers a sauna, hammam and outdoor whirlpool, as well as a choice of treatments and massages.

Located on the edge of Honfleur, Le Manoir des Impressionnistes is based in a beautiful old Norman manor that overlooks the Seine estuary. With just a 20 minute walk into town, the hotel has a Michelin-recommended restaurant, spa, and terrace for enjoying drinks in the sunshine.

Don’t overlook the four star Les Jardins de Coppélia, which looks like it’s been plucked straight out of a movie and deposited in the Norman countryside. Their onsite restaurant serves traditional French cuisine, and guests have access to an outdoor pool, spa and tennis court. This choice is located slightly further out of Honfleur, but is well worth making the extra journey.

Holiday Homes

If you prefer to have your own place, then why not consider one of Honfleur’s stunning holiday homes.

La Maison de Pierre et Valérie St Leonard Honfleur is a beautiful old French house with three bedrooms and two bathrooms. Amenities include a sun terrace, fully equipped kitchen, free wifi and air conditioning. Plus it’s only minutes away from the Old Harbour on foot!

Another historic building in the centre of Honfleur, La Maison de Pierre et Valérie Ste Catherine Honfleur offers two bedrooms and one bathroom. Guests also have access to free wifi, air conditioning and a fully fitted kitchen.

If you’re looking for something more compact, why not give Studio 15 a try. With one bedroom, one bathroom and a kitchenette, this is a great affordable option in the middle of town.

Other suitable options for solo travellers or couples include one bedroom apartments Studio32 and Le Clos Léonard Honfleur.

Wherever you choose to stay, I hope that you have a wonderful time in beautiful Honfleur!
