Young Adult Books
Author of 2022’s hit Netflix series One of Us is Lying, Karen McManus is a fantastic writer who specialises in young adult thriller novels.
Here are each of her books in order, separated by series.
Writing books for both young people and adults, Lex is a New York Times bestseller with six books to their name. I’m a big fan and I’m looking forward to their new adult book which publishes in fall 2025!
Here are all of Lex’s books in order, organised by age category.
I fell in love with Jenny Han’s books after watching To All the Boys I Loved before after it launched on Netflix in 2018. Little did I know that she has actually written eleven books, including a whole series that I’ve never heard of!
Here are all of Jenny Han’s books in order, starting with her very first.
Adam Silvera is a hugely popular young adult author, known for writing books with brilliant LGBTQ+ plot lines. He has penned a variety of novels spanning both contemporary and fantasy, and these include standalone titles, series and a co-authored duology.

If you’ve read my review, you’ll know that I’m a big fan of Kathleen Glasgow’s books.
Girl in Pieces is fantastic in that it’s highly emotive and covers lots of taboo topics in a way that is both sensitive and hard hitting.
Here I have gathered 18 quotes from the book that fit into four categories: hope, love, mental illness and self harm.
First published in 2019, How to Make Friends With the Dark is Kathleen Glasgow’s second book. It follows similar themes to Girl in Pieces, and features a teenage girl who is experiencing unthinkable difficulties with her mental health.
For this reason, please take note of the trigger warnings above and make sure that you feel able to manage the emotional intensity of the book.
You’d be Home Now was first published in 2021 and is Kathleen Glasgow’s third book. It’s a similar read to her previous two as it covers a variety of highly emotional themes, so please make sure that you take note of the trigger warnings before you pick it up.
Known for writing books that pack an emotional punch, Kathleen Glasgow has written five books. Four of these focus on mental health, while The Agathas is her murder mystery debut - co-authored with Liz Lawson.
Here are all of her books in chronological order, with a note from me about each one.
Much to the heartbreak of Grishaverse fans around the world, Leigh Bardugo’s Shadow and Bone series was officially cancelled by Netflix on the 15th of November 2023. Although the scripts were said to have also been written for the show’s spin off series Six of Crows, that show has also been cancelled and will never brought to fruition.
It’s speculated that the shows were cancelled due to falling viewer numbers for Shadow and Bone’s second season, which launched on the 16th of March 2023. Regardless of the reason, this cancellation has brought a sudden end to a much loved book series with a cult following.
When did you first read The Fault in Our Stars?
I remember when I did - I was 17, the same age as the protagonist Hazel Grace Lancaster - and it was the first John Green book that I’d ever read. The beautiful language has stayed with me all of these years, and Green’s masterful writing makes it a modern classic in the young adult genre.
Recently adapted into a hugely popular Netflix series, One of Us is Lying sucks viewers into an addictive murder mystery story featuring four high school aged suspects, after one of their classmates mysteriously dies in detention at the beginning of the semester. Based on a book that published in 2018, the series hurtles through the twists and turns of a murder investigation as we try to figure out who killed Simon, and consequently, who is lying.

Here it is, the long awaited sequel to Adam Silvera and Becky Albertalli’s wonderful YA novel What If It’s Us! Let’s start with a synopsis:
‘Ben has spent his first year of college working on his fantasy manuscript with his writing partner Mario, who is a great Spanish tutor, and an even better kisser. So why can’t he stop thinking about the fact that Arthur’s back in town two years after they called it quits?
Arthur is in New York for a dream internship on Broadway, with a boyfriend back at home that he couldn't be happier with. But when he comes upon Ben cuddled up with a mystery boy, he starts to wonder if his feelings for Ben ever truly went away.

Based on the bestselling book series written by Suzanne Collins, The Hunger Games is easily one of the most popular dystopian stories written in the modern day.
