Trtl Travel Pillow Review

As someone who is new to long haul flights, I knew I had to up my game when I booked a cruise from Bangkok to Hong Kong.

I’m based in the UK, and with two upcoming flights totalling 12 and 14 hours each, I knew that I had to be prepared.

This is where trtl comes in. Widely considered to be one of the best travel pillows on the market, trtl promises to give you ‘the most comfortable sleep you’ll ever have travelling’. With more than 2 million sales to date and nearly 1000 five star reviews on their website, their product really is tempting.

For context - the only travel pillow I’ve previously owned as an adult was one of those cheap ones that they often sell at airports. It had a cute tartan pattern but was absolutely terrible in terms of functionality, and I used it a grand total of once before leaving it to gather dust.

So, what makes the trtl travel pillow different from the others?

Structurally, the pillow is much more ergonomic, and is worn wrapped around the neck like a scarf. This took me a few goes to get used to, as I’d never used anything like it before, but it allows you to wear the pillow in the way that is most comfortable.

Instead of a soft cushion, this pillow has a more rigid support that holds your neck in place, rather than letting it droop down. This is what helps to reduce neck pain on long journeys, as it keeps the neck much more supported. The outer material has also been designed to be super-soft, made from hypoallergenic fleece that’s kind to the skin.

The overall design is fundamentally different from what I considered to be a travel pillow, having been designed with comfort and functionality in mind.

My Review of the trtl Pillow

Initially, I wasn’t particularly convinced by my new travel pillow. While the accessory itself seemed to be good quality, I couldn’t quite figure out how I was going to use it to get comfortable and sleep on a long flight.

I’m pleased to report that in practice, I found the trtl neck pillow to be an absolute game changer!

Both of my flights were red eyes - flying me across the world in the middle of the night. For this reason, getting a good night’s sleep was absolutely essential.

I used the pillow on both flights to and from London and slept well on each of them. In fact, during my 14 hour flight my seat mate commented that I had been asleep pretty much every time he looked over. Of course, you’ll never get the best quality of sleep on a plane and I woke up plenty of times, but my neck never ached and I didn’t feel any of the soreness that often comes with sleeping on a flight.

Practically, the pillow is relatively small and very light, which makes it easy to pack and carry around in my hand luggage. I definitely plan on bringing the pillow along on future flights, including short haul journeys when I fancy getting a bit of shut eye.

It’s also machine washable!

Where can I Buy One for Myself?

The Trtl Travel Neck Pillow is available on their website for £49.99 with free shipping within the UK.

You can buy it in a range of colours including green, red, yellow and grey, although I opted for the original black.

Other varieties of pillow are also available, with a cooling version, a ‘plus’ option that has additional adjustment capabilities, and a junior model for children. Other accessories and bundles are also available.

Based outside of the UK? You’re in luck - just make sure you visit the online shop in your country.

Thank you so much to trtl for sending me one of their travel pillows to try. I’m genuinely delighted with the product and know that it will be accompanying me on many trips in the future.
