Crystal Symphony Cabin Tour and Review (9019)

(I sailed with Crystal for free part of a press trip, however, all opinions are my own)

Here is a full tour and review of my beautiful Sapphire Veranda Suite onboard the Crystal Symphony.

I can see why Crystal is considered to be one of the most luxurious cruise lines in the world. I recently sailed onboard the Crystal Symphony on a seven day roundtrip from Athens, and was assigned one of the suites on the Deck Nine.

The Sapphire Veranda Suites are among the newest on the ship, having been completely refurbished in 2023.

Upon our arrival at suite 9019, my partner and I were promptly greeted by the friendly housekeeping staff. Rebecca and Janet serviced our room with a smile twice each day, while our butler, Marjan, was equally lovely. We soon learned that he would deliver canapés to our suite every afternoon, and provide other services such as delivering room service and our morning coffee.

Living Room and Dining Area

The living space itself was large with a plush blue sofa and generous sized flatscreen television. A desk/dressing table was located to the right of the entrance, with a small dining area in the opposite corner.

The desk housed all kinds of goodies, including a fully stocked mini bar and coffee machine with a supply of pods. Our butler also brought us a kettle and selection of teabags upon request (we are British after all!).

A bottle of wine was kindly provided when we arrived, and fresh water delivered in a sealed container each day. I particularly loved the magical refilling ice bucket, which provided an endless supply of ice and was presumably refreshed by our butler twice a day. We also had a magical refilling box of truffles, which I very much missed after returning home.

I loved that our suite came with its own personal tablet, which had a charging point on the desk and could be used to watch movies and provide information about the ship and our itinerary.

Bedroom

Elegantly framed by a pair of curtains, the bedroom was separate to the main living area with doors that opened into the ensuite on one side and the balcony on the other.

Bedside tables on each side of the bed provided a small amount of storage, with plug sockets and charging points on both sides. The gold rectangles above the pillows were handy little reading lights, which I, predictably, made good use of!

Bear in mind that this ship uses mostly European and US plug sockets, so if you’re visiting from the UK you will need to bring some adaptors with you.

This bed must have been one of the most comfortable that I’ve ever slept in. Soft without feeling too hard, and with luxurious linens and fluffy pillows, I slept well here every single night. I was actually disappointed to return to my bed at home, which is unusual for me.

A pillow menu was available upon embarkation, which is ideal for cruisers who have a particular preference, although we were happy with the pillows originally provided. As with most cruise cabins, suitcases can be stored in the space under the bed.

Inside the bedroom we had an additional television which offered the same features as the TV in the living room. We could use it to watch the progress of our itinerary on a map, see a livestream of the bow of the ship, and watch a variety of movies.

We were really impressed by the number of films on offer, spanning numerous genres and all included within the cruise fare. The TVs are linked and we found that if we started watching a movie in one room, we could turn it off and resume from the same point in the other.

Walk in Wardrobe

To the left of the front door was our very own walk in wardrobe. We found it to be a decent size for a one week sailing, and was capable of holding all of our clothes and accessories.

Inside you’ll also find complimentary slippers and robes as well as life jackets in case of emergency.

Ensuite Bathroom

Beautiful and always immaculately clean, our ensuite bathroom came stocked with complimentary toiletries and fluffy towels. Easily the largest bathroom that I’ve ever had at sea, it was equipped with a toilet, bidet, double sink and fantastic waterfall shower, with a head that was bigger than my entire face.

I found the shower to be absolutely blissful and an incredibly relaxing place to prepare for dinner after a busy day of exploring in port.

Private Veranda

The balcony, or private veranda, is always my favourite part of any cruise ship cabin. Ours was very generously sized on the Crystal Symphony, running the entire length of our cabin and furnished with two comfortable chairs, footstools and a table.

We had an excellent view and enjoyed breakfast out here one morning, which was delivered to us and laid out by our excellent butler.

I spent many evenings out here before bed, listening to the sound of waves crashing against the side of the ship. To me, that’s one of the best feelings ever.

I have to say, this is easily one of the finest suites that I’ve ever stayed in at sea. Not only was our room very beautiful, but it was also functional and looked after by three wonderful members of staff. It wouldn’t have been the same without their hard work.

I was very sad to say goodbye upon disembarkation, and will remember this trip for a long time to come.
