Here is my guide to the best places for afternoon tea in Chichester.
Chichester is a beautiful cathedral city with no shortage of places to eat and drink. From high end restaurants to budget cafes and everything in between, there are eateries in Chichester to suit all tastes.
Here is my list of the best places to stop for afternoon tea in the city. Each recommendation includes the current opening times, which are accurate at the time of publishing, so make sure you double check before you travel.
The Buttery at the Crypt
For an experience that captures Chichester’s history, then make sure you visit the Buttery. This iconic building dates back to the 12th century, and is just moments away from the cathedral.
This is a budget friendly option that serves delicious food, with a wide variety of cakes, sandwiches and hot food to choose from. I personally like to come here for a cream tea as I love the enormous scones that they serve!
Their luxury cream tea currently costs £16.95, and has a number of customisable options. You can even order a gift voucher if you would like to purchase the experience for a loved one.
Make sure you arrive early as it tends to get very busy at lunchtimes and weekends.
Opening Times
Monday - Sunday: 9am - 5pm
Joanna’s Tearoom
Just moments away from The Buttery, Joanna’s Tearoom is located in the Buttermarket, and provides a more luxury afternoon tea choice.
The tearoom itself is beautifully decorated, with lots of natural light, plush pink chairs and sparkling chandeliers. It’s the perfect spot for a special occasion - whether that’s a birthday, baby shower, or wedding celebration.
A children’s afternoon tea can be provided for the little ones, and a Christmas afternoon tea menu is launched around the festive season. Vegetarian, pescatarian and gluten free options are also available. You can even order afternoon tea packages to take away!
Afternoon teas at Joanna’s are currently priced at £35.95 for adults and £17.95 for children.
