Located just a short train journey away from London, Chichester is the ideal place for a weekend getaway.
Whether you’ve planned a visit to Goodwood, fancy a walk by the coast or want to explore the South Downs, Chichester is the perfect base for your trip. There’s plenty to see in the city itself too - with a 950 year old Cathedral, Pallant House Gallery and award winning Chichester Festival Theatre.
While Chichester doesn’t offer many traditional bed and breakfasts, the city does have a wide range of excellent hotels and private rental accommodation to suit all budgets.

Overview of Chichester
Why not try one of these options?
Hotels in Chichester
The most luxurious hotel to visit in Chichester is easily the Harbour Hotel. Based in a grade two listed townhouse, this four star property was originally built for Admiral Sir George Murray, who was a local hero. Today it offers beautiful modern rooms, a restaurant and bar, plus Chichester’s largest spa.
This is the ideal place for a leisurely afternoon tea, followed by a relaxing massage and a great night’s sleep.
If you’re looking for a historic experience that’s right in the centre of the city, then look no further than 4 Canon Lane. This hotel is located on a private road within the cathedral grounds, in a building that’s more than 150 years old. The rooms themselves are modern and bright, receiving high ratings from recent guests.
The East Walls Hotel is a family run option based on the outskirts of the city centre in another historic property. The hotel is adults only, and features a garden, terrace, restaurant, bar.
If you’re happy to consider accommodation that’s located slightly outside of Chichester, then you need to take a look at Crouchers Hotel. Located just a few minutes south of the city, this hotel is based in a gorgeous converted farmhouse. The rooms themselves are modern, and some even have their own patio.
Finally, visitors to the Goodwood motor circuit should definitely consider the gorgeous Goodwood Hotel. Set within the grounds of Goodwood’s 12,000 acre estate, facilities include two golf courses, restaurants, spa and fitness centre. Plus Chichester is just a ten minute drive away!
Budget Hotels in Chichester
If you’re travelling on a budget, then it’s worth considering one of these low cost options. Both are located in the centre of Chichester, and while the area can be lively on Friday and Saturday nights, their low cost makes them very affordable.
The Vestry is a modern, recently refurbished pub with a selection of rooms available on the first floor. Each room has its own private bathroom and breakfast is included in the booking price.
Alternatively, Trents by Green King is just a few minutes walk down the road. Breakfast here is also included, with private bathrooms and an onsite bar and terrace.
For a reliable low cost choice, take a look at the Chichester Central Travelodge. Rated two and a half stars, this is a clean and simple option located just moments from the cathedral.
Holiday Apartments
With a wide range of holiday apartments to choose from in Chichester, you’re bound to find something that fits your needs.
My first recommendation is South Street Apartments, which is located right in the centre of town. They offer four separate one bedroom apartments, each equipped with a kitchenette, air conditioning and free toiletries. Parking is also included, which can be hard to come by in Chichester.
If you’re after something bigger, then Canon Gate is a two bedroom apartment just a few moments down the road. The property has a traditional feel, with wifi and a fully equipped kitchen.
For an option that’s close to Chichester Festival Theatre, try the one bedroom ChiPad Mono. If you’re keen to stay in an apartment that has views of the cathedral, then take a look at this City Centre Apartment.
Holiday Homes
With lots of stunning holiday homes available to choose from, here are a few that are ideal for your visit to Chichester.
ChiPad Duo is a modern two bedroom house located in the east of the city, just a 20 minute walk away from the cathedral. Parking is available onsite, and guests have access to a private garden.
Alternatively, The Clock House is a beautiful one bedroom holiday home located in a historic building that’s teeming with character. With low hanging beams and a cosy garden, this is somewhere that you won’t want to leave when your stay is over.
Other two bedroom choices in Chichester city centre include this Stylish 2 Bed City Stay and this Boutique City Centre Home.
If you’re heading to Goodwood as part of a large group, then this six bedroom Goodwood Retreat is ideal.
Whichever property you choose, I hope you have a fantastic time in Chichester!
