Here’s my honest review of Craft Club Co’s viral moss coaster kits.
This is my completed Floral Grove Moss Coaster (minus the flowers)
I first found these kits after they went viral on Instagram and I’m SO glad that I gave it a go!
Before Craft Club Co I didn’t consider myself to be someone who was good at making things. I had a tendency to buy kits and never finish them, with several abandoned embroidery kits currently gathering dust in my office at home.
Then I bought my first moss coaster kit, which ended up being the gateway I needed to delve deeper into latch hooking. Now I’ve even made my first rug, which I’m incredibly proud of.
This review explains exactly what these moss coaster kits are, what they include, and whether they’re worth the money. Plus I have an exclusive discount code that you can use for 10% off your next purchase.

What Is a Moss Coaster Kit?
Despite how it sounds, no real life moss is used during the creation of these coasters. They’re more like mini rugs, with soft yarn, pom poms and bobbles that resemble little landscapes. I’ve never seen anything else quite like it!
The key thing is that Craft Club’s moss coaster kits are designed to be fun, using a variety of techniques to create something that’s totally unique to you. Although it comes with a pattern, crafters are encouraged to personalise their coasters in any way that they like.
They are suitable for complete beginners and involve a number of techniques, including latch hooking, weaving and sewing. Each step is fully explained, and the entire project can be completed within one or two sessions.
Giving one of these moss coaster kits a go is a great way to dip your toe into the world of crafting, before moving onto more complex projects (or more coasters!)
What's Included in a Craft Club Co Moss Coaster Kit?
These kits include everything you need to complete your own moss coaster. That includes:

All tools needed to complete the project, such as a latch hook and sewing needle

Full instructions with links to video tutorials
My Experience of Making a Moss Coaster
First Impressions
The kit itself was well packaged and clearly contained everything that I would need to complete the project. The accompanying instructions were very thorough, and I really liked how there were links to videos that demonstrated each step.
How Easy Is It to Make?
I completed my first moss coaster within the space of one evening, taking about 4-5 hours.
As a total beginner when it comes to crafts, I found this project to be really accessible and fun to work on. Learning the techniques was satisfying, and left me feeling inspired to try more craft kits in the future.
The only thing I really struggled with were the embroidered flowers, that were supposed to be added to the grass section of the coaster at the end. I did give it a good go but wasn’t happy with the result, and I actually really like how it looks without them.
The Finished Result
I was delighted with my finished coaster and have it on display in my office. I love how soft the coaster is, and I do use it to (carefully) hold cups of tea when I’m working at my desk.
I have to say that this is not the most practical coaster that I have, and I’m careful not to spill anything on it that might ruin the design. It’s probably more of a decorative piece, but can be used to hold drinks if you want to.
Who Are The Moss Coaster Kits Best For?
These kits are ideal for a wide range of people. Their low price point makes them great gifts, and the difficulty level is suitable for beginners and experienced crafters alike.
Lots of people, like me, also buy them for themselves as a way to relax and learn new skills. They’re not particularly difficult or stressful to complete, and make a mindful way to sit and relax after a long day of work.
The moss coasters would also make a fun project for a craft evening with friends or a date night.

This was my first moss coaster kit and I had so much fun making it! I made my purchase after seeing the kits advertised on social media, and as someone who wasn’t particularly crafty, just decided to give it a go.

Springtime Moss Coaster Kit
I had so much fun making my first moss coaster that this is my second project. I’m currently working on this one and am really enjoying at - although I do plan to leave off the embroidered flowers if I still can’t get the hang of them.
I like how this uses a different colour palate than the first, but is still fairly realistic.
Dreamscape Moss Coaster Kit
This is the moss coaster kit that I’m planning to buy once I finish the Springtime project.
I love the look of these bubblegum pinks, blues and purples, and can’t wait to display it once its done.

I’ve had so much fun making my moss coaster and love how it helped me to discover a new hobby. It really helped me to build my confidence before I moved onto bigger latch hooking projects.
While these moss coaster kits are very accessible and suitable for complete beginners, I do think that more experienced crafters will enjoy them too. They are easily customisable and everyone’s projects will be completely unique.
As several techniques are used to complete each project, this is a great chance to learn the basics of things like weaving, latch hooking and sewing. This can be a drawback though, as I really couldn’t get the hang of the embroidered flowers, even though I tried to do them several times.
